The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has praised Hon. Comr. Sunday Asefon following a digital empowerment programme that reportedly saw outstanding students receive laptops.

The programme, held at Ekiti State University in Ado-Ekiti, brought together students from selected institutions across the Southwest under the theme of digital skills and innovation.

According to NANS Southwest, beneficiaries were selected based on outstanding performance, with laptops presented to support their academic activities and digital development.

The student body described the merit-based approach as an important message to students that hard work and excellence can create opportunities.

NANS Southwest Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), encouraged students who did not benefit from the current phase to keep improving themselves rather than becoming discouraged.

The association said only a limited number of students could be accommodated during the programme but expressed hope that future editions would reach more schools.

NANS Southwest also praised Asefon for continuing to engage with students after his earlier involvement in the leadership of the Nigerian student movement.

The association said technology has become central to modern education and urged more institutions and stakeholders to support initiatives that improve students’ access to digital tools.

It concluded by encouraging students across the Southwest to keep learning, building and innovating, stressing that excellence should become a culture rather than a temporary pursuit.
