The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Southwest Zone D, has urged students to embrace peaceful activism and dialogue while advocating stronger ties between the student community and the Nigeria Police Force.

The call followed a courtesy visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone XI, AIG Bassey Samuel Ewah, by the NANS Southwest Zone D Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, popularly known as BILLIONCODES, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026.

The delegation also included the Chairman of NANS JCC Osun Axis, Comrade Kehinde Ayokunle Temiloluwa, known as KAYWHYTEE, and other zonal directors.

During the visit, Adeyemo praised the police for their efforts in protecting lives and property, calling for improved communication and a more cordial relationship between officers and students across Southwest Nigeria.

AIG Ewah urged students to avoid violence and resolve disagreements through constructive dialogue. Drawing from his student days and his Aluta experience, he reminded student leaders that confrontation was not always the best way to achieve their objectives.

“Dear Students, My Young Friends, Say No to Violence,” he said, encouraging students to practise responsible activism and work with stakeholders to promote safer communities.

The meeting also addressed the proposal for greater student participation in the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC). The NANS coordinator said such involvement would help improve cooperation between students and law enforcement agencies.

The AIG welcomed the initiative, noting the committee's readiness to encourage increased student participation in community safety and security.

NANS Southwest Zone D expressed appreciation to the Zone XI leadership for the engagement and reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful advocacy and stronger police-student relations.
