OSOGBO, Nigeria — The National Association of Nigerian Students, Southwest Zone D, has urged student leaders and voters across Osun State to participate peacefully in the governorship election holding today.

In a statement signed by the Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (Billioncodes), the association noted that students make up a significant portion of the electorate.

According to the statement, available analysis of the updated voters’ register puts the number of registered student voters at 752,800, representing about 32.2 per cent of the total electorate and the largest occupational category of registered voters in the state.

The Coordinator appreciated JCC leadership, SUG presidents, sister bodies, campus stakeholders and mobilisation teams for their efforts in encouraging students to register, collect their Permanent Voter Cards and understand the importance of participating in the election.

He said recognised communication and coordination channels have been established across student structures in the state to share verified information on polling units, security concerns, welfare issues and other election-day developments affecting students.

Adeyemo appealed to groups and individuals mobilising students to respect the established student leadership within their institutions and locations. He warned against any attempt to create parallel student leadership or falsely claim to represent the collective position of Nigerian students without proper consultation.

He urged every student with a valid PVC to vote peacefully, remain vigilant, comply with electoral procedures and report any genuine security threat, intimidation or irregularity through the appropriate channels.

“Nigerian students are no longer spectators in determining the leadership and future of Osun State. We are stakeholders, and our voice matters,” the statement said.
