OSOGBO, Nigeria — Governor Ademola Adeleke has approved Tuesday, 28 July 2026, as a work-free day for all categories of public servants in Osun State to collect their Permanent Voter Cards.

The directive covers local government staff, workers in tertiary institutions and other public servants.

The Head of Service, Elder Ayanleye Aina, conveyed the approval in a circular sent across the public service. He said the work-free day was granted to enable public servants perform their civic duty ahead of the forthcoming governorship election and future polls in the state.

Workers on essential duties such as medical personnel and security staff have been advised to make internal arrangements so that their absence does not affect the public.

Governor Adeleke urged public servants and informal workers to collect their voter cards as quickly as possible. He reminded residents that next month’s election is critical to the future of the state.

“I encourage all registered voters to reach all the collection points without delay. Your vote is your power. Your voters card is your licence to the ballot paper and by extension to the ballot box,” the governor said.
