LAGOS, Nigeria — Lagos State University (LASU) has identified its top scholars for the 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 academic sessions, ahead of its combined 29th and 30th convocation ceremonies. The university will confer degrees on over 20,000 students, including 494 first-class graduates.

Ayilara Olawale, from the Department of Project Management Technology, achieved the highest CGPA of 4.96 for the 2024/2025 session, graduating with First Class Honours.

For the 2025/2026 academic session, Adebanjo Oluolamide of the Department of Aerospace Engineering secured the top position with an impressive CGPA of 4.97.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, disclosed these achievements during a press conference on Wednesday.

Olawale, who earned a B.Tech (Honours) in Project Management Technology, attributed his success to divine grace. He shared his gratitude on his X handle, stating, “Every victory was by Allah’s grace. Here’s to bigger dreams, impact, and a lifetime of excellence.”

He previously announced his graduation in November 2025, describing his academic journey as one requiring discipline, endurance, and perseverance. Olawale also noted his involvement with the Project1500 initiative and the Millennium Fellowship, LASU Cohort.

Adebanjo Oluolamide also dedicated his academic success to God. The Aerospace Engineering graduate was involved in various extracurricular activities, including research and academic publications.

Celebrating his accolade on X, Oluolamide posted, “4.97 / 5.00 CGPA. First Class Honours in Aerospace Engineering at Lagos State University. Official Senate Approval. All glory to God for His grace, wisdom, and strength every step of the way.”

Earlier, Oluolamide highlighted other academic distinctions. On August 9, he announced receiving the Scholar of the Year award at the AESA-LASU Dinner, marking his second such award during his undergraduate studies. He wrote, “Winning my 2nd Scholar of the Year title during my undergrad is the best way to close a chapter. Late nights, heavy research, and relentless focus paid off.”

In July, Oluolamide revealed that two of his research papers were accepted for presentation at the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ NAICE 2026 conference in Lagos. He had sought financial assistance of ₦200,000 to support his research presentation at the event.

The university's 29th and 30th combined convocation ceremonies are scheduled to take place from August 14 to August 23.
