OKITIPUPA, Nigeria — The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State, has begun an indefinite strike. The action is a direct response to the state government's alleged non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement.

This development follows a similar industrial action by ASUU at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), another institution owned by the state. AAUA also commenced its indefinite strike on Tuesday, citing the same grievances regarding the agreement's implementation.

Dr. Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, the ASUU Chairman at OAUSTECH, confirmed the strike on Wednesday in Okitipupa. He stated that the industrial action is comprehensive and will continue indefinitely until the Ondo State government fulfills its obligations under the agreement.

The agreement in question reportedly includes provisions for a 40 percent increase in the Current Consolidated Salary Scale, Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), and Consolidated Academic Tool Allowance (CATA). Other components mentioned by Dr. Ogunbamike include Professorial Allowance, Responsibility Allowance, and Supervision Allowance, alongside other non-monetary aspects of the pact.

Dr. Ogunbamike expressed disappointment with the state government's approach, noting, “In spite of the state being an oil producing one, the government of the day is not responsive to educational development.”
