MADRID, Spain — Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has expressed strong confidence that his team will contend for major titles this season, aiming to reclaim their status as top contenders. The club has gone through two consecutive seasons without securing significant silverware.

Since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu two summers ago, following a successful tenure with Paris Saint-Germain, Madrid has failed to win the league title, finishing behind Barcelona in successive seasons. The Blaugrana also defeated their rivals in two consecutive Supercopa Espana finals.

The 2025-26 season proved trophyless for Los Blancos, with their campaign ending in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and the Round of 16 in the Copa del Rey. However, the return of former manager Jose Mourinho for his second spell this summer has injected optimism.

Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013. Mbappe shared his optimism about the team's prospects under the Portuguese manager.

“We have to win, and I think this year we [Real Madrid ] are going to win titles,” Mbappe stated, as reported by Madrid Xtra. He added, “I’m sure we’re going to come back. We’re going to stay focused all year.”

Mbappe recently concluded a notable 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign in North America with France. He emerged as the tournament's all-time leading scorer with 22 goals.

He also made history by becoming the first player to secure multiple Golden Boot awards. During the World Cup, he scored 10 goals and provided four assists. France finished in fourth place, losing 2-0 to eventual champions Spain in the semi-finals and 6-4 to England in the third-place playoff.
