ABUJA, Nigeria — The Federal Capital Territory Administration has ordered the immediate closure of the secretariat of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee on the Sale of Federal Government Houses in the FCT.

The directive, issued on Wednesday, marks the formal end of the secretariat, which had continued to operate after the committee concluded its assignments.

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, also approved the establishment of a dedicated division within the Department of Land Administration. This new division will assume the responsibilities previously handled by the defunct committee concerning the sale of Federal Government Houses.

The administration stated that the secretariat had been temporarily retained to address matters arising from the committee’s activities. Its closure means the public should now direct all inquiries and assistance requests regarding the sale of these houses to the Department of Land Administration.

The FCT Administration issued a stern warning regarding potential fraudulent activities linked to the former committee and its secretariat.

Citizens are urged to exercise caution and be wary of individuals who may still present themselves as staff, officers, or members of the dissolved Ad-hoc Committee or its secretariat. The administration emphasized that the committee and secretariat no longer exist.

This warning is deemed necessary to protect the public from falling victim to fraudsters attempting to exploit the former committee's name and structure. The move effectively centralizes all future administrative matters related to the sale of federal government houses in the FCT under the Department of Land Administration.

The directive was approved by Minister Wike and took immediate effect, according to a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
