ABUJA, Nigeria — Timi Frank, a prominent opposition figure and former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called for the immediate suspension of Senator Francis Fadahunsi. Frank’s demand follows alleged inflammatory remarks made by the senator concerning the upcoming Osun State governorship election.

A video circulating online reportedly shows Senator Fadahunsi, speaking in Yoruba, accusing members of the Accord Party of attacking APC members. The senator is also alleged to have urged his audience to retaliate by attacking Accord Party supporters in Ilesa.

The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that it summoned Senator Fadahunsi over his remarks. The senator reportedly honored the police summons on Wednesday, though details of their interaction remain unclear.

Frank described the senator’s alleged comments as “unguarded” and a threat to Nigeria’s democratic process. He urged the Federal Government and security agencies to take swift action.

“I condemn the comment of Senator Francis Fadahunsi strongly and call on the security agencies to immediately act, despite his position, to arrest the senator with all urgency,” Frank stated. “The Senate must immediately suspend such a senator who can make such unguarded statements. We want to see action taken as an example to every person involved in election violence.”

Tension is reportedly high in Osun State ahead of the governorship election, scheduled for August 15, 2026. The incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, is seeking re-election and faces competition from the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, also known as AMBO.
