OSUN STATE, Nigeria — More than 2,700 residents in Imogbara, Odo-Ijesha, and Iperindo received free healthcare services during the fourth annual community medical outreach organized by Segilola Resources Operating Limited (SROL). The two-day event, held on August 7 and 8, 2026, also marked a significant expansion of the company's SegunCare program to incorporate more robust mental health support.

During the outreach, attendees benefited from 2,762 medical consultations, 81 scheduled surgical procedures, and 1,860 laboratory investigations. Additionally, 563 residents underwent eye examinations, with 21 scheduled for surgeries and 174 receiving free prescription reading glasses. Screenings for conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, HIV, Hepatitis B & C, and tuberculosis were conducted, alongside health education sessions.

The expanded SegunCare program now offers enhanced mental health services, including counselling for patients dealing with long-term diagnoses, rehabilitation support for individuals with substance use issues, and grassroots educational campaigns to address misconceptions about chronic diseases. This initiative reflects SROL's commitment to holistic community well-being, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical and mental health.

Since its inception in 2025, SegunCare has provided ongoing management for approximately 279 residents with chronic illnesses, including monthly medication and routine monitoring. Following this year's outreach, an additional 50 beneficiaries were enrolled, ensuring continued care beyond the annual event.

Dr. Princewill Osuchukwu, Medical Services Manager at SROL, emphasized the program's vision of making quality healthcare accessible regardless of location or financial status. "While the annual outreach provides immediate access to essential medical services, we recognise that lasting health outcomes require sustained care," he stated. "Through SegunCare, we continue to support residents living with chronic illnesses long after the outreach has ended, and this year, by integrating more mental health support, we are taking another important step towards delivering more holistic healthcare for our communities."

Adeshina Sherifat, a SegunCare beneficiary, described the program as life-changing. "Before SegunCare, buying my medication every month was very difficult because I couldn’t always afford it," she shared. "Today, I receive my medication regularly, my health is monitored, and I feel much stronger. Knowing that the support continues even after the outreach has given me confidence and peace of mind."

Hon. Soji Gbege, Chairman of the Iperindo Community Development Agreement (CDA) Committee, highlighted the importance of SROL's consistent engagement. "For many families in our communities, quality healthcare remains expensive and sometimes out of reach," he said. "What has mattered most to us is not just what SROL provides during the outreach, but how consistently they have shown up for our communities year after year. That consistency is what has built trust between SROL and the people here, and it is what gives residents confidence that this support is not a one-time gesture."

SROL's Annual Community Medical Outreach has reached over 13,000 residents since its inception, focusing on preventive care, specialist treatment, and long-term health management.
