LAGOS, Nigeria — Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested four suspected members of a criminal gang allegedly linked to recent murders, armed robberies, and cult-related activities in the Ajah axis of the state.

The suspects were apprehended during follow-up operations stemming from a robbery investigation, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi.

The police identified the arrested individuals as Kareem Abiodun, 26; Tansiru Emmanuel, 29; Lateef Usman, 28; and Alashe Azeez, 32.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are connected to robbery incidents in Ajah, Sangotedo, and Ibeju-Lekki, the police stated.

The suspects reportedly made confessional statements implicating themselves in armed robbery, murder, and cult activities.

During the operation, authorities recovered three locally made pistols, one live ammunition, two battle axes, and a Point-of-Sale (POS) machine.

The suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators. Efforts are underway to apprehend other alleged gang members and recover more exhibits.

The police indicated that the suspects will be charged to court once investigations conclude.
