ABUJA, Nigeria — The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, has been redeployed from the state command to the Force Headquarters in Abuja on a special duty assignment.

The directive was contained in a police wireless message issued by the Force Secretariat, Abuja, on Thursday, 30 July 2026, and marked “Most Immediate.”

According to the signal, Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu ordered the posting of Gotan to the office of the Commissioner of Police in charge of Communications Operations at Force Headquarters, Abuja, with immediate effect.

The message instructed all affected police formations and commands nationwide to treat the deployment as very important and ensure prompt compliance.

The development comes amid heightened political activities and security concerns in Osun State ahead of the 15 August governorship election.

Aides of Governor Ademola Adeleke welcomed the move. The Special Assistant on Digital Media to the Governor, Oni Gbenga Lawrence, and the spokesperson of the Adeleke Campaign Organisation, Pelumi Olajengbesi, described it as a positive step and thanked the Inspector-General for the decision.
