OSOGBO, Nigeria — Ahead of the August 15 governorship election in Osun State, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on political actors and stakeholders to reject violence and foster peaceful engagement.
Oyintiloye made this appeal on Wednesday while speaking with journalists during an empowerment program organized for informal workers. He stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful atmosphere in the state during the electioneering period.
The APC chieftain emphasized that political actors have a duty to ensure that their campaigns and activities do not incite violence or disrupt public order. He urged all parties involved to conduct themselves with a high degree of responsibility, prioritizing the well-being and safety of Osun State residents.
Oyintiloye highlighted that a peaceful electioneering process is crucial for the democratic development of the state and the nation. He believes that constructive dialogue and adherence to electoral laws should be the guiding principles for all participants.
He further encouraged voters to make informed decisions based on the platforms and manifestos of the candidates, rather than being swayed by inflammatory rhetoric or inducements. The APC chieftain reiterated his commitment to a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
