OSOGBO, Nigeria — The Independent National Electoral Commission has scheduled a mock accreditation exercise for Saturday, 1 August 2026, ahead of the Osun State governorship election.

The exercise will take place in designated polling units across 12 local government areas spanning the three senatorial districts.

According to a statement signed by Ariyo Rufus, Head of Department, Voter Education, Publicity, Gender and Inclusivity, the selected local governments are:

  • Osun Central: Osogbo, Olorunda, Ifelodun and Boripe
  • Osun West: Egbedore, Ede North, Ede South and Ejigbo
  • Osun East: Ilesa West, Ilesa East, Oriade and Obokun

INEC stated that the exercise is designed to test the functionality and efficiency of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System under conditions similar to election day.

The commission emphasised that there will be no voting during the exercise.

INEC urged all registered voters in the selected polling units to participate with their Permanent Voter Cards.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a free, fair, credible, transparent and inclusive governorship election in Osun State on 15 August.
