ILESA, Nigeria — An impressive turnout of voters was recorded at Ifofin Unit 001, Ward 8, Ilesa East Local Government Area, on Saturday during the state governorship election.

This polling unit is where Rauf Aregbesola, the National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, is registered to vote.

A voter, Adeniyi Taye, praised the electorate for their participation. "We are many in the area. You can see from the large turnout here," Taye stated.

Three polling booths are situated in close proximity. Voting commenced in all three, with the exception of Ward 8, Unit 10, where a delay occurred due to logistical issues.

Presiding Officer Elizabeth Adaramaja informed journalists that chairs and tables were not supplied for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ad hoc staff. However, the African Democratic Congress party agent, Samson Grace, countered this, asserting that the necessary furniture had been provided.

"The issue has been resolved. Voting is going on now. We had a little delay, but we have resolved the situation," Adaramaja later confirmed.

As of 11:15 am, Aregbesola had not yet cast his vote, according to reports from the polling unit.
