ABUJA, Nigeria — The All Progressives Congress has appointed Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, as Chairman of the National Campaign Council for the Osun State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed the election for Saturday, 15 August 2026.

National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, announced the appointment in a statement. He said the inauguration of the National Campaign Council and its sub-committees is scheduled for Tuesday, 28 July 2026, at the Transcorp Hilton Event Centre, Abuja, by 12 noon.

The council has Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas as co-chairmen. Senior Special Assistant to the President on Political and Other Matters, Ibrahim Masari, will serve as Deputy Chairman, while Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin is the Secretary.

According to a notice signed by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, the party has also constituted specialised sub-committees covering election planning and management, finance and resource mobilisation, contact and grassroots engagement, logistics, monitoring and compliance, media and publicity, security, youth mobilisation, women’s mobilisation, and other areas.
