Ede, Nigeria — Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on Saturday voiced strong confidence in securing victory in the ongoing governorship election. He cast his vote at Ward 02, Polling Unit 009, Abogunde Compound, Ede North Local Government Area.

Governor Adeleke arrived at the polling unit around 8:32 a.m. accompanied by a large group of supporters. After being accredited by the Presiding Officer at 8:35 a.m., he proceeded to cast his ballot.

Speaking after voting, Adeleke urged the electorate to participate actively and protect their votes throughout the electoral process. He emphasized that the election offers the people of Osun the chance to choose their governor for the next four years.

The governor appealed for peace and adherence to the law from voters during the voting and collation stages. He also encouraged citizens to remain at their polling units to monitor the process, in line with Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.

However, Adeleke raised concerns about potential disruptions. He stated that information indicated a police officer was planning to interfere with the electoral process in Ede. He called for the immediate redeployment of this officer from the state by the Inspector-General of Police.

Adeleke also alleged that some police officers were intimidating his supporters in Modakeke and other areas, aiming to disenfranchise them. He further warned his supporters to be vigilant against the use of counterfeit ballot papers in certain polling units.

Despite these concerns, Governor Adeleke expressed optimism that the election would be conducted peacefully, credibly, and would accurately reflect the will of the people.
