ABUJA, Nigeria — The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has officially launched its central digital platform, nanshq.org, marking a historic transition toward transparent, tech-driven student governance across Nigeria’s tertiary institutions.

The official launch, spearheaded under the leadership of NANS President Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, establishes an authoritative digital hub connecting over 40 million students across 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

For years, student unionism in Nigeria has battled challenges associated with unauthorized press statements, imposter leadership factions, and fake announcements circulating on social media.

The new portal serves as the single source of truth for all official NANS press releases, National Executive Council (NEC) resolutions, convention updates, and zonal directives.

"With this portal, no unverified statement can masquerade as official NANS policy," the association stated. "Every official press release, national appointment, and leadership verification can now be authenticated directly by students, institutional authorities, and members of the press."

The nanshq.org portal introduces several key tools aimed at empowering students and institutional executives:

  • Leadership Verification Database: A public directory listing verified executive leadership across all six geopolitical zones, state axes, and accredited local Student Union Governments (SUGs).
  • Scholarship & NELFUND Tracking: Direct access to information regarding student loan disbursements, federal emergency funds, and educational grant opportunities.
  • Institutional Helpdesk: An open feedback channel enabling students to report campus issues, emergency welfare needs, and tuition fee hikes directly to national leadership.
  • Media & Historical Archive: A repository housing official convention records, historical summit documents, and news releases for campus journalists and researchers.

Speaking on the strategic vision behind the platform, NANS leadership reiterated its commitment to using technology to defend student rights and expand access to educational opportunities.

The deployment comes alongside ongoing digital welfare initiatives, including expanded partnerships with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and nationwide student support programs.

Student Union leaders, university authorities, and media houses have been advised to rely solely on the new portal for official communications and verification of NANS credentials moving forward.
