ABUJA, Nigeria — Former National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Sunday Asefon, has added another major political milestone to his profile following a fresh national appointment.

Asefon, who currently serves as the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Student Engagement, has been named the National Director of Student Engagement and Mobilization for the City Boy Movement.

The announcement was met with widespread celebration across student leadership circles, particularly within the NANS Southwest Zone D axis, where leaders described the move as a major victory for student unionism in Nigeria.

Reacting to the news in a statement, the Coordinator of NANS Southwest Zone D, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode (BILLIONCODES), congratulated Asefon on his new role, pointing out his long-standing track record in youth advocacy and student welfare.

"This appointment is not just a personal victory for Comrade Asefon; it is a proud moment for the entire Nigerian student movement," the statement read. "It shows that dedicated student leaders can transition from campus activism to high-level national service and governance."

The zonal leadership expressed confidence that Asefon would leverage his expanded role to create stronger bridges between the federal government and tertiary institutions nationwide.

Following the announcement, the former NANS President formally presented his appointment letter to the Honourable Minister of Youth Development, Comrade Ayodele Olawande, in Abuja.

During the meeting, Asefon pledged to double down on efforts to deepen youth inclusion, protect student interests, and drive constructive participation in national policy development.
