ABUJA, Nigeria — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially launched its 2026 recruitment exercise, inviting applications from eligible Nigerians seeking entry-level and professional positions across Grade Levels 07, 08, 09, 10, and 12.
According to the official notice released by the commission, the online portal opened on Monday, July 20, 2026, and will close on Monday, July 27, 2026. The exercise aims to bolster institutional capacity, strengthen data management, and enhance operational logistics ahead of upcoming electoral engagements nationwide.
The recruitment exercise is structured across three primary cadres targeting various skill levels and educational qualifications:
- Professional Cadre (Grade Levels 09, 10, and 12)
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree / Master's Degree + Professional Certification (e.g., NBA, ICAN, COREN).
- Key Functional Areas: Lawyers, ICT Officers, Engineers, Accountants, Quantity Surveyors.
- Administrative Officer II (Grade Level 08)
- Minimum Qualification: Bachelor's Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) in Social Sciences, Humanities, or Sciences.
- Key Functional Areas: Registration Area oversight, voter records, and ICT support.
- Executive Officer Cadre (Grade Level 07)
- Minimum Qualification: National Certificate in Education (NCE), Ordinary National Diploma (OND), or equivalent qualification.
- Key Functional Areas: Operational assistance, data management, and field support.
To be considered for any role, candidates must satisfy the following basic criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth or descent.
- Identification: Must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and a Local Government Certificate of Origin.
- National Service: Must possess an NYSC Discharge Certificate or Certificate of Exemption (required for GL 08 and above).
- Age & Medical Fitness: Must be at least 18 years old and certified medically fit for public service.
- Skills: Must be computer literate with basic proficiency in data handling applications.

recruitment.inecnigeria.org. Ensure you are accessing the verified.gov.ngdomain. - Create an Applicant Account: Click on Create Account. Provide your First Name, Last Name, Email Address, Phone Number, NIN, and State of Origin, then set a secure password.
- Select Position: Log into your newly created profile and browse available positions across Grade Levels 07 to 12. Choose the cadre that matches your academic background and professional experience.
- Fill the Online Application Form: Complete all required sections of the digital form, including personal details, contact information, educational credentials, and NYSC records.
- Upload Supporting Credentials: Upload clear, scanned copies of required compliance documents:
- Recent passport photograph with a plain white background (under 5MB).
- Academic certificates (Degree, HND, NCE, or OND).
- Valid ID card / NIN slip.
- NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
- Review & Submit: Carefully cross-check all submitted data for accuracy. Once verified, submit your application and download/print your official Acknowledgement Slip.
