ABUJA, Nigeria — The United States government has praised Nigeria's ongoing anti-terrorism operations, with US President Donald Trump reaffirming Washington's commitment to supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the fight against Boko Haram and Islamic State-affiliated groups.

The bilateral engagement follows recent joint security operations between Nigerian and American forces that successfully targeted high-profile terrorist leaders operating in the region.

During diplomatic discussions on counter-terrorism and regional stability, US officials acknowledged the Tinubu administration’s proactive steps in restructuring Nigeria's defense strategy and intelligence-sharing frameworks.

Washington pledged to maintain security partnerships with Nigeria, particularly in:

  • Intelligence & Surveillance Sharing: Enhancing real-time data exchange to track insurgent networks across the Sahel and West Africa.
