OSOGBO, Nigeria — Mrs. Kafayat Oyetola, wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, has inaugurated 10,000 female canvassers to mobilise support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, ahead of the August 15 election.

The women, operating under the platform Akoni Obinrin (Brave Women), conducted a solidarity walk through major routes in Osogbo. The procession passed through MDS, Station Road, Fagbewesa, Ola-Iya and Aregbe before ending at the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Office in Ogo-Oluwa.

Mrs. Oyetola told journalists that the group aims to support both Oyebamiji in the forthcoming poll and President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. She said the platform has coordinators in all 62 local council areas and across the state’s 3,763 polling units, backed by women opinion leaders at the grassroots.

“Our canvassers will educate voters on how to cast their ballots correctly for the APC to ensure that no vote is voided or wasted,” she said.

She expressed confidence in Oyebamiji’s leadership, noting that his experience in both the private and public sectors prepares him adequately for the office of governor.

Mrs. Sekinat Oyebamiji, wife of the APC candidate, said the solidarity walk seeks to encourage greater participation of women in the election. She added that the exercise also builds momentum for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

Oyebamiji described the initiative as a “Walk to Win.” He urged women across the state to turn out in large numbers to vote and pledged to revitalise key sectors of the state’s economy if elected.

“Voting for the APC is the path to restoring Osun’s lost glory,” he said.

Among those at the event were Princess Adebukola Adereti, wife of the APC deputy governorship candidate; Hon. Ayo Omidiran, Chairperson of the Federal Character Commission; and Hon. Taiwo Oluga, a House of Representatives candidate.
