ABUJA, Nigeria — The Imole Campaign Council, the campaign organisation of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, has called on the United Kingdom, international observer missions and civil society organisations to closely monitor the 15 August governorship election.

The council made the appeal after submitting a petition to the British High Commission in Abuja.

The Imole Campaign Council described the August 15 election as a critical test of Nigeria’s democratic institutions ahead of the 2027 general elections.

It expressed confidence in Governor Adeleke’s chances and pointed to what it described as a daily influx of All Progressives Congress members into the Accord Party as an indication of public support.

The Osun State governorship election is scheduled for 15 August 2026. Governor Adeleke is seeking a second term on the platform of the Accord Party.
