WERRI, Nigeria — In a major political announcement ahead of the 2027 general elections, Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma, has stated that all five South-East governors have united in their resolve to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Speaking during a high-level political gathering in the region, Uzodimma revealed that despite belonging to different political parties, the chief executives of Imo, Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, and Enugu states are aligned on prioritizing national unity and regional infrastructure development.

The South-East geopolitical zone currently features a diverse political leadership landscape across its five states:

  • Imo State: Hope Uzodimma (APC)
  • Ebonyi State: Francis Nwifuru (APC)
  • Enugu State: Peter Mbah (PDP)
  • Abia State: Alex Otti (Labour Party)
  • Anambra State: Chukwuma Soludo (APGA)

According to Uzodimma, the cross-party consensus stems from ongoing federal interventions in the South-East, including key infrastructure projects, security partnerships, and economic initiatives spearheaded by the Tinubu administration.

"All five governors in the South-East have agreed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated unwavering support for our region," Uzodimma stated. "We have resolved to work together across party lines to ensure his return in 2027 so that the developmental strides across the South-East can be sustained."

Uzodimma emphasized that regional stability, commerce, and security remain top priorities for the South-East governors. He noted that collaborating closely with the federal government provides the most viable pathway to addressing long-standing security challenges, boosting regional trade corridors, and completing critical federal transport networks.

Political analysts note that if fully realized, a unified endorsement from all five South-East governors would represent a significant realignment in the region's electoral dynamics ahead of the 2027 presidential race.
