ANAMBRA, Nigeria — Dr. Nonye Soludo, the First Lady of Anambra State, has encouraged Nigerian youths to embrace their capabilities and actively contribute to societal progress, emphasizing that they are not just future leaders but present-day agents of change.

In a statement released on Wednesday to commemorate International Youth Day, observed globally on August 12, Dr. Soludo highlighted the critical role young people play in shaping the world.

“Young people are not merely the leaders of tomorrow; they are the real changemakers, innovators, entrepreneurs, creators and problem-solvers shaping our world today,” she stated.

Dr. Soludo, who also founded the non-governmental organisation Healthy Living with Nonye Soludo, urged young individuals to never underestimate their capacity to make a difference.

She stressed that their ideas, energy, and courage are essential for constructing the future society envisions. She called for the creation of environments that enable young people to learn, develop, lead, and flourish.

“Every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their potential and turn their dreams into meaningful impact. The world owes them that,” Dr. Soludo asserted.

She extended her message to young people in Anambra and across Nigeria, advising them to believe in themselves, pursue continuous learning, maintain their health, and recognize the significant impact they can achieve.

“Your ideas, energy and courage are needed in building the future we all truly desire. Happy International Youth Day,” she concluded.

International Youth Day, designated by the United Nations, serves to draw attention to various cultural and legal issues affecting young people worldwide and to celebrate their contributions to sustainable development.
